The ancient city of Hampi in the Indian state of Karnataka hosts the annual Hampi Utsav festival every November. As a site that has seen the splendor of the Vijayanagara Empire and beyond throughout the ages, Hampi reenacts that glory over three days.

It’s 373 kilometers from Bengaluru, because of its prominence in the country’s technological sector, to this spot on the Tungabhadra River. However, the Hampi Utsav is scheduled for January 27th-29th, 2023.

Hampi Hot Air Balloon Festival: What Makes It Special

The Hampi Festival has been held annually since the Vijayanagar Empire; however, its precise beginnings have yet to be discovered. Since the celebrations pay tribute to the glory of the Vijayanagar Empire, it is generally agreed that Hampi Utsav had its origins in that dynasty.

UNESCO designated site

UNESCO designated Hampi in Karnataka, India, because of its beautiful architecture throughout its 41,5 square kilometer area.

The area is close to the river Tungabhadra and is surrounded by hills; the structures here are primarily what remains of the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire.

About 1,600 structures are still standing, including temples, treasury buildings, bazaars, royal pavilions and platforms, aquatic constructions, and treasury buildings.

Therefore the Best time to experience hot air ballooning is in the early morning or the late evening, it has a breathtaking sunset.

While you are in the balloon make sure to take a photo of the landscapes that are in front of you, also include the sides of the hot air balloon basket, in the photo. It will give you a beautiful addition that will add some interest and contrast to your photos.
