These are some random thoughts that come across the minds of people who are beginners in photography. Instead, they wanna use DSLRs like professionals.

Photography is a genre of art that helps us capture or create everlasting images of any action or memory we want to keep on a light-sensitive film or digital memory space.

This whole thing is a camera with lenses. Cameras are of various kinds and depending upon the lens they also are categorized distinctly(such as SLR, DSLR, mirrorless camera), etc. The most common camera used by a photographer is a DSLR.

What is a DSLR?DSLR For Beginner

DSLR stands for Digital single-lens reflex camera. It is a digital camera with interchangeable lenses in a single camera set. This camera is suitable for both beginners and professionals.

It delivers finer quality pictures with high-resolution megapixels. It performs better than cameras with photographic film as it has a digital image sensor which allows us to capture refined and smoother shots.

Unlike professionals, people who are new to photography or someone who has recently explored the photography talent in themselves are usually unaware of the basic DSLR settings.

The cheat sheet of DSLR provides some very basic setting categories and all that a beginner needs to know. So here we go.

1. DSLR

Digital single-lens reflex is the mirror placed between the image sensor and the lens (interchangeable).

2. Sensor

This part of the camera detects and captures the images or pictures.

3. Lens

This is the most important part of the camera that is used in the camera body to create images of the object.

4. Aperture

This adjusts the amount of light entering the camera and it is measured in f-stop. Such as f/2.4. It is adjusted according to the requirement of light and the speed of the shutter.

5. Shutter speed

It is the length or amount of time in which the sensor of the camera is exposed to light.

6. Depth of Field

Depth of field is the amount of focus stressed on the image.

7. ISO- sensitivity

It determines the sensitivity of the image sensor to light. Low ISO is less sensitive to light and thus little or no grains are added to the image and vice versa happens for high ISO.

8. Exposure triangle

A very basic and quick setting of the camera is the exposure triangle. These settings include a trio for capturing a perfect image i.e. shutter speed, exposure, and ISO.

9. Remote

Using a remote serves the same function as a shutter does, but it allows distant functioning.

10. Tripod

A 3-legged mount or stand to hold the camera steady avoiding any shake.

11. Image Grid

It divides the image into 9 squares i.e. a grid for placing the subject in the proper intersection.

12. Bokeh

It is the blur effect applied to the surface of the object that is not in focus. It is applied using a narrow depth of field.

13. Filter

It is a basic adjustment setting in the camera that allows you to change or adjust the color and type of light entering the lens.
